Refrigerator Method:
With a fridge set at 40 degrees this method takes 24 hours per 4 pounds of Turkey.

Thaw Turkey in its original packaging, Breast side up on a platter in the fridge.

Cold Water Method:
This takes 30 minutes per pound of Turkey with regular monitoring.

Leave the Turkey in its original packaging & put it breast side up in the sink.

Add cold water to cover and change every 30 minutes to keep the water from becoming too cold.

Safety Tips:
Remember to keep the bird cold while it thaws(Thawing the Turkey at room temperature or in sink full of warm or hot water will put the outer layers on the Turkey in the “Danger Zone” where bacteria can multiply rapidly while the inside is still thawing).

A fully thawed Turkey may be safely kept in the fridge for 3 – 4 days before cooking.
